EU and EDFI Mobilise Over €740 Million in Private Investment Through New Global Gateway Guarantees

In October 2025, the European Commission and the European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI) signed three new guarantee agreements during the Global Gateway Forum, aimed at mobilising more than €742 million in private investment for sustainable projects worldwide.

These guarantees focus on key strategic sectors such as renewable energy infrastructure, value chain development, and private sector-led investments in emerging and developing markets. By reducing financial risk, the agreements enable private investors to participate in projects that were previously considered too complex or capital-intensive.

For European companies and investors, this initiative represents a powerful risk-mitigation mechanism that opens new international business opportunities while aligning commercial returns with EU sustainability and development priorities.
